Downtown Clearwater may soon get a new look. City leaders are looking to change the landscape in hopes of attracting more people to the downtown area and really make it a destination place.
- Clearwater officials looking to redevelop downtown area
- City leaders hoping to attract more visitors
- Meeting held tonight to discuss redevelopment plans
Residents are invited to attend a meeting with the city Wednesday night to see all the updates and changes to the downtown redevelopment plan and zoning district.
The city launched a program called “Imagine Clearwater,” asking residents to give their input as to what they would like to see downtown and now those plans are all coming to fruition.
While fixing up the area has been quite a process, city officials said it’ll all be worth it in a few years.
Once a year, downtown Clearwater is transformed into a race village for the Superboat championship, but most weekends, there is not much going on and not many people in the area.
City leaders are hoping to change that by hosting big events frequently and having streets lined with thriving businesses.
City leaders will present the latest updates and changes to the downtown redevelopment plan and downtown zoning district at tonight’s meeting.
The meeting will be held at the Clearwater main library from 5:30 p.m. – 6:30 p.m. and is open to the public.
City officials said feedback is encouraged.
