HIGHLANDS COUNTY, Fla. -- Residents in a Sebring neighborhood have been evacuated due to a large brush fire, according to the Highlands County Sheriff’s Office.

The fire is burning in the area of Heron and Barn Owl Street.

Residents living with the area of Puffin Street, Scrub Jay Avenue, Barn Owl Street and Oriole Avenue have been asked to leave.

The Sheriff’s Office said the brush fire is “large and still very active.”

Firefighters with the West Sebring Fire Department are working to extinguish the blaze.
