A small electrical fire tore across a boat overnight at the Madeira Beach marina.

  • Boat fire in Madeira Beach
  • Officials say electrical issue sparked fire
  • No injuries

Fire officials said some kind of electrical issue caused the fire. A witness grabbed the boat's tow ropes and pulled it away from larger fishing boats in the marina, located on the Tom Stuart Causeway.

The fire was contained to the one boat. There were no injuries.

The boat's owner and Coast Guard will work today to figure out how to raise the partially-sunken vessel. There also will be a further check for a fuel or oil leak in the water.

That work is not expected to interfere with any of the fishing boats docked at the marina.
