PASCO COUNTY -- Two fires created smoke concerns Friday morning in Pasco County.
- 2 fires overnight in Pasco
- Mulch fire near Trinity; Brush fire neat Moon Lake area
- No evacuations, part of SR 54 closed overnight
Pasco Fire Rescue responded to a brush fire in the Moon Lake area and a smoldering mulch fire near Trinity. Smoke is the main concern with these fires and there has been no evacuations ordered.
Florida Forestry Service also responded Friday morning and is cutting fire lines as the flames lessen i nthe Moon Lake area. The hope is the fire burns out sometime later today.
The mulch fire is at Paw Materials, a waste management facility on State Road 54 near Black Lake Road.
The smoke has been impacting the roadway and State Road 54 was shutdown overnight.
The mound of mulch burning is about 30 feet tall. Crews have been using ladder trucks and back hoes as it took about three hours overnight to get the fire under control.
The other situation is a brush fire in the Moon Lake Road area.
Officials said the main concern with that fire is the smoke, which is expected to clear out later Friday morning.
