TAMPA -- A 68-year-old man in a wheelchair was struck by a vehicle and killed Thursday morning in Tampa. 

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the crash happened just before 4:30 a.m. on Hillsborough Avenue near Hanley Road.

Troopers said the Tampa man was trying to cross Hillsborough Ave. in the dark when he was struck by a Acura MDX being driven by a 28-year-old man. 

The man in the wheelchair died at the scene. His identity has not been released yet.

No charges have been filed against the driver.
