BRADENTON, Fla.-- A car crash in Bradenton left one man dead and three injured, including a child, on Thursday at the intersection of 75th Street and Ninth Avenue.

  • Petro Chyshkevych, 43, killed
  • Three-year-old passenger hospitalized
  • Highway Patrol says reckless driving involved

The Florida Highway Patrol said said Bran-don Mulrain-Williams, 30, was driving the Chevrolet in a reckless manner northbound on 75th Street when he tried to pass 18-year-old Alexis Booker who was driving in front of him. Mulrain-William's front right tire struck the left rear tire of Booker's vehicle, causing his car to flip.

As his vehicle went into the air and overturned, it struck the front driver's side of another car, sending that car into a tree.

That car's driver, Petro Chyshkevych, 43, was killed in the crash. Chyshkevych's 3-year-old passenger was injured and transported to Bayfront Medical Center with minor injuries, according to investigators.

Mulrain-Williams and Booker were both transported to Blake Medical Center with minor injuries.

Florida Highway Patrol troopers say Chyshkevych was not wearing his seatbelt and his child passenger was not properly restrained.

This is an ongoing investigation and there is no further information at this time.
