ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. -- City police are investigating a fatal crash involving a motorcycle and another vehicle.

It happened Friday morning on Ulmerton Road in the Carillon area.

The man driving the motorcycle died at the scene, according to the St. Petersburg Police Department. The woman driving the car was injured and taken to the hospital.

Circumstances surrounding the crash haven't been released.

Traffic in the area will be affected for several hours. 

All eastbound traffic lanes on Ulmerton at Fountain Parkway are closed. This affects the northbound ramp to the Howard Frankland bridge as well as the southbound ramp to MLK St. N.
