ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — Here's your Tampa area weather forecast for late Monday into Tuesday morning, along with a preview of conditions through the rest of the work week.

The pattern now is one where we have a dominant wind from the east.

That will result in above-average temperatures for afternoon highs, but pleasant evenings and mornings. The east wind will be breezy during those times, making for a more comfortable feel.

Passing showers all move westward toward and into the Gulf of Mexico in this pattern. There can still be a few isolated showers that come into the area overnight from the other side of the state, but the coverage definitely goes down overnight.

Morning lows will be in the low to mid 70s for most areas.

We’ll start with mostly sunny skies Tuesday morning. followed by a partly cloudy afternoon. High temperatures will get into the low to mid 90s again, since the sea breeze will stay pinned at the gulf.

In this type of pattern the hottest temperatures end up on our side of the state. There will be some passing showers and a few storms that will all move westward into the gulf in the evening.

After that skies will go mostly clear, with a breezy east wind and temperatures falling into the 70s for Wednesday morning.

Beyond that will be a batch of drier air that moves in Wednesday with lower humidity. It will not cool us down much, but it will feel slightly better in the evenings and mornings.

Thursday will feature a little batch of passing moisture with some scattered showers, but they will quickly pass, with a return of drier air again late week into the weekend.

Unfortunately, there is still no sign of the first cold front of the season. At least the humidity will start to decrease a bit this week, helping to take an edge off the heat.
