TAMPA, Fla. — Officials are investigating an arson involving two cars in West Tampa overnight.

  • Cars burn in drive way of West Tampa home
  • Police, fire officials investigating as arson
  • No suspects

According to Tampa Fire Rescue, two cars burned in a drive-way overnight in the 3200 block of Lemon Street. Firefighters said the flames burned so hot, the side of the home was singed.

The fire crews were able to quickly put out the fires and prevented any further extension to the home.

Officials believe the two vehicles were intentionally set on fire after hearing from a witness.

According to the investigator's incident report, an unknown male carrying a container entered the driveway of the home on foot and poured an ignitable liquid onto both vehicle's exterior and left a trail of fluid on the ground.  The suspect then ignited the trail which ignited both vehicles.

Officials said the two vehicles were total losses and the damage to the home is estimated at $1,200.

If there is any good new for investigators, the front door of the home is equipped with a ring door bell that has a camera. It's possible, the camera recorded anyone that may have set the fire.

So far police are not saying if they have looked at any of that video footage.

They are asking anyone with information on the crime to contact the Tampa Fire Marshall's Office at 813-274-7000.
