PLANT CITY, Fla. — Plant City Police are investigating an apparent hit-and-run crash that killed a pedestrian Thursday evening.
Officers responded to a call around 7:30 p.m. reporting a person laying on the side of Charlie Taylor Road near US 92 that was "possibly deceased." Upon arrival, officers confirmed the person, an adult Hispanic male who appeared to be in his mid 40s to mid 50s, was dead.
Based on witness description and evidence at the scene, investigators are searching for a silver or light green SUV with moderate to heavy damage to the driver's side frontal area. The vehicle's front bumper might be partially torn and hanging from the vehicle.
After the collision, investigators believe the suspect vehicle fled northbound on Charlie Taylor Road.
