TAMPA, Fla. — A school security officer in Tampa is facing sexual battery charges against a child.

Malcolm Curtis Tillman, 22, was arrested Wednesday afternoon. He's been charged with sexual battery on a child under 12 years old.

A judge issued a $250,000 bond for Tillman on Thursday.  He is also not allowed to have contact with the victim or contact with minors, and no use of computers, according to the Hillsborough County State Attorney's Office.

Investigators say the battery happened at Booker T. Washington Elementary School, the school where the security officer worked and where the child was a student.

According to police, officers were notified on January 10 about a possible incident with a security officer and a 6-year-old girl.

Officials said Tillman denied the allegation but admitted that he was alone with the girl in a classroom.

The investigation turned up physical evidence from the classroom that supported the report. When DNA evidence was processed and implicated Tillman, a warrant was issued for his arrest.

A neighbor of Tillman's told us he saw officers walk Tillman away in handcuffs.

“Actually, I was sitting on the front porch when they came, and I would’ve never guessed he was that type of person, 'cause he was always quiet," said neighbor Eric Frazier.

One Booker T. Washington parent we spoke to, Dorothy Grady, said she was shocked by the arrest.

"It's so scary now, when you think this is a safe place for kids," Grady said. "Look what happens."
