POLK COUNTY, Fla. — The future of a small private Polk County school may be in doubt after its leader’s arrest last week.

Kingdom Preparatory School Headmaster Charles Aguon was charged last week with molesting a teenage male student. Now, just days later, the school is temporarily closed.

Parents of students at the school received an email over the weekend about the shutdown. That email included a line addressing parents potentially pulling their children from the school.

"If you feel that transferring your student is the best decision, then we ask that you simply have the new school request their records via fax," the school's message reads.

Parents we spoke to were frustrated because they haven't been able to reach anyone at the school about the situation. One of those parents, Patty Smith, told us that's why she plans to place her daughter Hailey in a different school.

“If they continue to keep the doors shut with nobody here to give anybody and explanations, nobody to answer the phone, nobody to let parents know they are working to get our kids back in school," she said.

Parent Ryan Vaught wondered about the future of the school. He said many of the school's workers were either related to Aguon or lived in his home.

“You expect your child to go to school and learn and not have the school shut down on you,” he said.

Vaught went on to say the school's closure also prompted him to look for a new school for his son.

“When something happens. It just makes them look bad,” he said.

Smith expressed doubts about the school ever re-opening.

“I think they will shut the doors," she told us. "I don’t know what else they will be able to do."

We left a voice mail message and sent an email to the school, but received no response.
