CLEARWATER, Fla. — Clearwater Police Department officers and the Florida Highway Patrol pooled their efforts Wednesday to curb speeding along two major Bay area traffic corridors — U.S. 19 and the Courtney Campbell Causeway.

The agencies participated in what they referred to as a major sting operation throughout the day.

In total, officers and troopers handed out 80 speeding tickets and 64 warnings to drivers.

Officials said the operation was the first of several they planned to carry out throughout the rest of the year.
