TAMPA, Fla. — Busch Gardens Tampa Bay will open the world’s fastest and steepest wood and steel hybrid coaster in 2020, the theme park announced Friday.
- Coaster will be tallest of its kind in North America
- Meanwhile, new coaster Tigris set to open this Spring
- Announcement made as part of 60th Anniversary celebration
At over 200 feet high, the as-yet-unnamed coaster will also be the tallest of its kind in North America.
The coaster, which replaces "Gwazi," will feature all-new elements as well as throwbacks to its predecessor.
The park made the announcement as part of the kickoff for its 60th Anniversary Celebration.
Rocky Mountain Construction will be building the new coaster. The company has built coasters for other theme parks, most notably Six Flags and Cedar Point.
In the meantime, coaster fans have Busch Gardens’ newest coaster to look forward to, Tigris, which is scheduled to open this spring.
