CLEARWATER, Fla. — A termite inspector becomes a hero Saturday morning after saving a man from drowning.

David Saviola was working at a home on Bayside Drive in Clearwater when he heard screaming coming from next door.

He ran over to find an elderly man drowning in Clearwater Bay behind his home.

The man had apparently jumped in the water after his dog fell in. Neighbors say the man doesn't know know how to swim.

Saviola then jumped in, bringing both the man and his dog to safety.

He works for Magnum Termite and Pest Control and says it was a case of being at the right place, at the right time.

"I just want to thank God for having me there at the right time. I wasn't even supposed to be working. Saturday's my day off. Something brought me there, and I did what anyone would do," Saviola said.

The man and his dog are both doing okay.
