ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — The Dali Museum is eyeing a $38.7 expansion and has submitted an application with Pinellas County for $17.5 million.

  • Museum looking at expansion, new parking garage, new exhibits
  • Application for funding on Tuesday's commissioner agenda

The item is on the agenda for Tuesday morning's county commissioner meeting.

According to the agenda item, the museum wants to add community and education space, a 150,000 square-foot parking garage and exhibition space dedicated to "mediated experiences merging art and technology."

In addition to the hands-on digital experiences, the new gallery would show more of Dali's life through additional film and photography.

According to the museum, new space would allow it to increase the number of events it holds and even become a "destination wedding site."

The proposed garage would increase parking from 130 to 400 spaces.
