Tarpon Springs is in the running for "Best Small Town Cultural Scene" in a USA Today online poll.
As of Wednesday evening, the city was in ninth place. There are still 18 days left to vote.
Business owners in Tarpon Springs we spoke to about the city's charm and allure point to how they've kept Greek traditions alive for more than one hundred years.
“We have a quality of life and a value living waterside in Tarpon Springs, along with a culture and history. It just separates us from the rest," said Michael John Targakis, the owner of Spongeorama Sponge Factory. “Our history, waterfront, great food, and a good attitude ... and I think that’s really going to keep us going for a long time.”
The business owners went on to say they've created a tight-knit community here, and hope it stays.
"I wouldn’t trade it for anything in the world," said Nina Gray, the owner of Yia Yia's,
“As soon as you come over here, you feel it. You feel welcome," said Andy Salivaras, owner of Mykonos.
