TAMPA, Fla. — Plato Academy is in a legal fight with Superior Schools, the company contracted to run Plato's nine campuses.

The academy's school board fired the management company last week follow a shakeup in that company's management structure. That followed the June death of the Superior Schools CEO and founder, Steve Christopoulos.

"Superior has asked that the Plato Academy Board follow the terms of its agreement," says Superior Schools spokesman Kyle Parks, "which call for a 60-day period in which Superior's to be able to try and cure any problems that occur."

Superior officials met with more than two dozen parents Thursday night to offer as much information as they could while this case is still being litigated.

"My take away was, unfortunately, things are out of our hands”, says Katherine Tsafatinos, a parent who attended that meeting. "And they have to be dealt with in the court of law, but I think hopefully the two sides will be able to put their differences aside, come to a mutual agreement, rebuild that bridge."

School board members aren't commenting on the situation at the advice of their lawyers.

A judge is expected to hear the case sometime next month.
