CITRUS COUNTY, Fla. — Citrus County partnered with Duke Energy to help their senior citizens get prepared this hurricane season.

They handed out kits Tuesday filled with essentials that everyone, not just seniors, should have on hand.

- Citrus County Board of County Commissioners, Friends of the Community Centers, Inc., and Duke Energy partnerd to make the kits.

- They included items like batteries, flashlights, plastic bags, and band-aids.

- They wanted to give the kits to seniors because they sometimes don’t have the resources to get them on their own.

- Emergency officials stress it’s important to get ready now.

- There are extra kits at the senior community centers throughout Citrus County.
