SPRING HILL, Fla. — Pasco County is rolling out weekly curbside recycling pick-up and cutting out glass from its program in an effort to boost participation and increase sustainability.
- Haulers have 90 days to begin the new weekly pick-ups, which will replace the old bi-monthly schedule. Residents can use their own container marked with a recycling sticker or call haulers to order a recycling cart and for schedules. Here’s a list of local haulers: https://pascocountyfl.net/180/Garbage-Pick-Up
- Customers could see increased costs. For the first time since 2009, the county raised the price cap haulers can charge from $12.44/month to $16.81/month.
- Pasco will no longer collect glass as part of its recycling program. Officials say there’s no resale market for recycled glass, and cutting it out is projected to save the county $100,000 per year.
- About 8,000 tons of recyclables and 379,000 tons of trash are generated in the county every year.
- Cardboard, plastics, paper, and metal are all accepted by the county for recycling. For more details, visit: https://www.pascocountyfl.net/181/Recycling
