On Friday, NASA presented its plan to create a marketplace based in space.
The agency has projected initially a cost of $58 million per flight and $35,000 per night at the ISS.
They expect to welcome two commercial flights a year with six people per flight.
Each mission could last up to 30 days.
To qualify, American companies must meet one of three requirements:
- The projects need to use of micro-gravity environment present in space.
- Ventures must have a connection to NASA’s overall mission, or
- Projects must support the development of a space economy.
To learn more about the motivations the agency has for exploring commercialization of the ISS, as well as how they intend to accomplish these lofty goals, watch the video above.
