“The Connection” will be released in 2020. According to IMDB, the film is about, “two strangers [who] struggle to overcome insurmountable odds when they are suddenly faced with unimaginable powers and an unbreakable connection.”
The filmmakers decided they wanted to film a scene at Marv’s Meat Market in Clearwater. They reached out to the owners and they immediately said yes.
"He said it was a science fiction film, some teenagers testing the limits on their superpowers so I said why not?” said Rudy Genao. He owns Marv’s Meats alongside his father, Rolando. The market is known for its unique meats and has been a staple in the community for decades.
So far, the crew has spent a few hours filming at the shop.
“It was kind of funny to watch behind the scenes,” said Genao.
The filmmakers are local, and Genao says that’s one of the reasons the decision to let them film at the shop was easy.
“It just feels good to engage in other local businesses,” said Genao.
The crew will be filming at Marv’s again on Sunday after it closes. The film is expected to be released in 2020.
