ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — You can tell we’re into that time of year when showers and storms can pop up just about any time of day or night. The atmosphere is very moist right now and we have a light onshore breeze.
That will again allow for scattered storms to linger in some spots overnight into early Tuesday morning.
- High rain chances
- Onshore breeze
- Low in the Gulf this week

Otherwise, expect partly cloudy skies with lows in the low to mid 70s.
Scattered storms will likely pop up again Tuesday morning, with the best coverage in coastal regions.
The coverage of storms will be high the next few days due to high moisture content and a low pressure just to our northwest near the panhandle.
As a result, expect a 70 percent coverage of showers and storms with variably cloudy to partly sunny skies. That will keep our highs down a bit in the upper 80s.

In the tropics, things are quiet right now, but it does look likely that the small low pressure currently over Georgia will drift into the Gulf of Mexico and could become a tropical storm later this week.
At this time it does not appear to pose any threat to our area, and our weather will likely stay the same regardless of if it develops.
With that being said, it probably will become the next tropical storm and move west toward Texas very slowly this week. It’s too early to know exact path and intensity if that happens, but hopefully it will stay close enough to land so that it doesn’t have time to strengthen too much before going back over land later this week.
