CLEVELAND COUNTY, N.C. -- In Cleveland County, a family no longer has a home or their cat because of an arson.
- Authorities say a teen who set a house on fire had the wrong target.
- They arrested him for arson and attempted first-degree murder.
- Prior to the fire, the victims received threatening notes, but they were addressed to someone who doesn't live there.
Investigators in Shelby say it's all because a man set fire to the to the wrong house.
Shelby police arrested 18-year-old Zanden Cox for arson and attempted first degree-murder.
Neighbors, who are upset that this happened, say the victims received threatening notes and letters but they were addressed to someone who doesn't live there.
“It was just, we couldn't believe it, just total devastation, the house inside is wrecked, the kitchen was brand new prior to this happening,” said Tom Harris, a neighbor.
