ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — The tropical wave is passing overhead so we’ll have lots of cloud cover along with scattered on and off showers and storms through the next 24 hours. There will be breaks in the rain but there will definitely be above average stretches of rain and cloud cover until the tropical wave moves away from us.

Temperatures right now have dropped into the low to mid 70s in many spots and will stay there for the morning lows.
Friday will feature mostly cloudy skies with a couple rounds of showers and storms. It won’t rain all day, but the extra moisture and cloud cover will lead to a gloomier looking day than we are used to. The coverage will end up at about 80 percent by the end of the day. It will also help to keep our temperatures down with highs in the mid 80s.
The showers will tend to decrease in coverage Friday evening with lows in the mid 70s.

Saturday will feature scattered showers and storms getting a quick start in the morning and continuing into the afternoon. They will shift eastward through the day though so most of them end up on the other side of the state that night. The coverage will be at about 60 percent.
Highs will be in the upper 80s.
A slightly stronger onshore breeze will kick in Sunday, resulting in a quick start to the scattered storms, but that also means most of them will move to the other side of the state quicker. Highs will be in the upper 80s. The rain coverage will be at about 50 percent.
