Rebuilding Together Tampa Bay organized the effort to provide home repairs for low-income homeowners in Lealman on Thursday.
Dozens of volunteers from Spectrum and the Lightning joined forces to provide much needed TLC to the homes.
"We're going to be painting, we're going to be cleaning up some homes, helping rebuild," said the Lightning's Jarrod Dillon. "A lot of different, various yard work activities."
Homeowner Brandi Holroyd said she couldn't be happier that her home was one of the ones getting the help.
"Honestly, I applied for a grant and the next thing I know, I have Olga telling me, "Hey, Tampa Bay Lightning and Spectrum want to do this for you" and I was blown away," Holroyd explained. "Honestly, this is amazing."
Joe Durkin, director of communications for Spectrum, said Thursday's effort was part of an ongoing project, and that they weren't done yet.
"Our goal is reaching 50,000 homes by 2020," said Durkin. "We're close to 38,000 already that we've touched and made healthy and safe."
For Holroyd, that included installing a new hot water heater. She said she'd been without hot water since October 2018.
Thursday's work extended beyond Holroyd's home - it included a home next door to hers, and a third one across the street.
"We're committed to not only just providing excellent services, but we're also committed to making a difference and this is one of those ways," Durkin explained. "We're giving back, making safe and healthy homes."
"I'm very thankful," Holroyd said. "I can't thank Rebuilding Together Tampa Bay, Spectrum, Tampa Bay Lightning — I'm beyond blessed for this."
