TAMPA, Fla. — Halloween brought some "scary" moments to customers and employees at Mel's Hot Dogs in Tampa. A two-car collision outside the restaurant on Busch Boulevard sent a car crashing through a front window of the restaurant.

The crash shattered glass and sent tables and chairs flying inside the building.
"Probably about five minutes prior there was a whole family sitting there, two kids and everything, so we got lucky that nobody got hurt," said restaurant employee Jonathan Tyrrell.
Nick Martin and his girlfriend were eating inside when it happened. He said they were sitting on the other side of the restaurant when the impact occurred.
"It was insane, my ears were ringing," he said. "It took me a good couple seconds to actually process that this was real, because I was jarred, I was jarred."
Owner Mel Lohn said he's been complaining about road conditions on Busch Boulevard for years.
"They just don't understand that you should be slowing down in the streets. This is a deadly, dangerous street," Lohn said.
Crews spent the evening picking up debris and boarding up the front window.
Lohn plans to re-open on Friday.
"I brought some spray paint and I'm going to put up a little sign that says "Yes, we're open, but please don't drive through," he said.
