Around one to two inches of rain is likely across central North Carolina for Friday through Saturday.  The heaviest of that rain should fall Friday afternoon and evening.

As the rain arrives Friday morning, it is falling into cold air, but temperatures just warm enough for only a cold rain in the Triangle and Sandhills.   To the west, light freezing rain has been falling between Greensboro and Boone.  The entire state should change to all rain by late morning or midday.

Temperatures in central North Carolina will slowly climb in the upper 40s for the Triangle and the low 50s in the Sandhills by late Friday afternoon.

Those temperatures will then hold steady through Friday night.

Saturday will not be as wet as Friday.   There will be periods of dry weather at times.  However, occasional showers are expected in the morning and in the afternoon.  Highs will top out in the upper 50s to near 60.

Sunshine will finally return for Sunday when highs will also reach the upper 50s to near 60.

After the weekend, we'll see showers again Tuesday.
