The new year will bring a new name for a non-profit agency serving the Rochester region for the past 70 years.

The Mary Cariola Center announced Monday that it is changing its name and identity to "Mary Cariola Center: Transforming Lives of People with Disabilities."

They say the change will better describe the evolution the center is going through.

Mary Cariola serves an 11-county region that includes 48 school districts, as each day, nearly 500 students with disabilities come to learn. The center also has six community residences that house 44 individuals full-time.

President and CEO Karen Zandi says the center looks forward to serving and growing in the Rochester community.
