CINCINNATI, Ohio– The heart of downtown Cincinnati will be covered in snow every weekend this month, thanks to a new event called Snow Banks at The Banks.
Imagine this: come this weekend - The Banks will turn into a winter wonderland. With blizzards every thirty minutes and events like sledding and snow tubing.”
Downtown Cincinnati isn’t all that busy this time of the year.
“There’s not really much to do in January downtown,” Lisa Roa a Cincinnati resident, said.
But that’s all about to change starting this weekend thanks to Snow Banks at The Banks- where the popular downtown area will transform into a snow-covered winter wonderland.
“I thought it sounded kind of cool,” Roa said. “Seems like it would be fun to be able to come downtown and do tubing or snow type of event. It’s very festive for winter.”
“We’ve never had anything like this,” Jake Barnhorst a Mason, Ohio resident said. “It will be exciting to see, it’s something new people can come down for.”
Now, the last bit of preparation is coming to a close. A ramp built right in the heart of downtown Cincinnati for snow tubing is almost complete. Snow Banks will also include sledding down Joe Nuxhall Way, carriage rides, snow blizzards every half hour, a snow lounge with cocktails, and more.
“I think if it’s down here, we’ll definitely come down and check it out,” Barnhorst said. “It’s something new. If they have sledding and tubing and stuff like that, then this would be something awesome for the family.”
And that’s the hope- to have something for all ages.
Many businesses in the area will offer special cocktails, menus, and entertainment. They’re happy to see more events come downtown during a slow period. And residents are too.
“Downtown has been up and coming for a while now,” Roa said. “And people who live even in the suburbs, they love Cincinnati and Cincinnati is downtown. So the more things there are to do and the more money that can be spent on the local economy is the best for all of us.”
Tickets are just $5, and the event runs every weekend in January. Fridays are free and only offer a limited amount of activities. You can buy tickets here.
