HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, Fla. — What do you do if you're one of those voters who requested a mail-in ballot and the candidate you voted for has dropped out of the race?
We're now down to four Democratic presidential candidates — Joe Biden, Bernie Sanders, Elizabeth Warren, and Tulsi Gabbard.
So what happens if you sent in your mail-in ballot for one of the 11 candidates who dropped out of the race? Can you vote again?
"If you have already filled out your by mail ballot and returned it to my officer, state law does not allow you to vote again. You have cast your ballot," said Craig Latimer with the Hillsborough County Supervisor of Elections Office.
What if you haven't put the stamp on the mail-in ballot yet, but you've already selected one of the candidates on the ballot?
"If you have a vote by mail ballot that you haven't sent in yet and if you haven't marked it, fine, mark it whenever you want and get it back to our office by 7 p.m. on Election Day, March 17. If you've marked it but you're holding on to it, you can request another vote by mail ballot," Latimer said.
If you have a mail-in ballot that you've filled out already but you decide you want to go to a precinct instead, you don't have to bring the ballot with you. Just show up and vote.
There's a system in place that only lets you vote once—either by mail or in person.
Latimer said if you didn't send in your mail-in ballot and you show up to vote in person, it won't take any longer so don't let that keep you away from the polls.
Latimer also noted that the names of the candidates who have dropped are still on the ballot because those people were still running in early December when the ballots were printed.
Florida's primary is March 17, so make sure to check in with your local elections office for precinct locations and times.
