SARASOTA Fla. – As notoriety grows for the small island town of Siesta Key, so does the number of people who pick it as their spring break destination.
Plan to visit this March or April? Here are 5 things to know:
- The Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office has doubled the amount of deputies that patrol the beach and nearby Siesta Key village for the spring break season.
- Each day, at least two deputies will be roaming the miles of Siesta Key Beach sand in ATV’s.
- The Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office will have mounted patrol deputies at the beach daily. They say the horses help their deputies be able to see more from a higher vantage point.
- There are roughly 1,000 parking spots available at Siesta Key beach. They get taken quickly so be sure to arrive at the beach early or be prepared to wait.
- The Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office says it is important to never leave your valuables unattended. Be sure to always keep you phone, wallet, and keys with you or locked in your vehicle.
