HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, Fla. -- Bloomingdale High School's class of 2020 is one step closer to graduation after their May ceremony was postponed because of Coronavirus concerns.

The Bloomingdale Bulls are charging forward as their graduation is now slated for July.

Seniors were served up their caps and gowns Wednesday, drive-thru style.

"It was a bit different than I expected but I was just happy I was able to get it at all," said Jordan Chastain, BHS Salutatorian.

"I was expecting to get them at my senior breakfast, which we never got," said senior, Nathalia Echevarria.

"But at least they're giving it to us at our home school, we don't have to get it in the mail or anything."

The 19-year-old's mother was crying in the car while Nathalia showed off her cap and gown.

"I didn't graduate, so I'm happy to see her graduate," said Nina Echevarria.

While family supported students. Faculty and staff cheered them on and waived posters as they drove through the line.

"We haven't forgotten them, said Principal Sue Burkett. "We're still behind them we know it's heartbreaking for them and we just want to be there for them."

"These kids are going to miss out on so much their senior year," said Jacquelyn Marshall, AVID Coordinator.

"This is our way of just letting them know you're in our thoughts every step of the way."

"I was not expecting this. I know that a lot of teachers feel bad that we haven't gotten to have our fourth quarter of senior year like we expected," said Chastain. "But this is just really nice that they're all here supporting us, they even made little posters, that's just really sweet."

With caps and gowns to go, these Bulls are ready to pull forward.

"I am really looking forward to finally having a really nice in person-finale to the last 13 years," said Chastain.
