PINELLAS PARK, Fla. — A Bay area principal was honored by his staff with a huge surprise parade Thursday to celebrate his retirement from the Pinellas County school system.

Pinellas Secondary School Principal Darren Hammond is retiring after more than 30 years with the district.

Hammond was moved to tears during the surprise parade in front of his house. He had no idea more than 50 cars were going to show up to his home to celebrate his retirement.

His staff said they wanted to honor him and thank him for a job well done, and since they couldn’t have a retirement party, they did the next best thing.

Happy retirement, Mr. Hammond! Watch the video above to see more!
