WINTER HAVEN, Fla. - KaMeika Floyd told Spectrum Bay News 9 that her neighborhood has been flooded for more than a month.

- HOA has sent a letter to residents
“I reached out to our Home Owners Association, and at last check, they said there was no short-term solution," Floyd said.
Since the flooding began, Floyd said animal control has been in the area to catch a gator. The HOA is sending an email to all residents saying this:
“The master Board of Directors voted unanimously to approve of the dewatering of the center retention pond and to notch the outfall structure to prevent flooding in Phase 5 in the future.”
They added that engineering permits will be required and that they are in the works.
“I have small children and a puppy,” explained Winter Haven resident Samantha Haven. “What if the gators come onto the backyard or are hiding in a bush? It’s not safe.”
Haven’s backyard is currently flooded and her kitty pool is full of tadpoles.
“The frogs are awful,” she said. “There are hundreds, and they keep you up all night with their croaking.”
Residents also mentioned a rank smell throughout the area that, they say, adds to their frustrations.
“They did send a truck out to pump the water out of the street but nothing happened,” said Floyd.
Spectrum Bay News 9 did reach out to the HOA last week and has not heard back.
