Auto Works of Tampa helped women learn the basics with the Wheels and Heels car clinic.
Program participant Autumn Dent says when it comes to the car, she usually leaves maintenance up to her husband.
“But he thinks it would probably benefit everyone in the family if I had a basic understanding of how a car works beyond putting the gas in," she said.
Throughout the event, moms and daughters checked fluids, they learned how to change oil and batteries, and how to fix those ever pesky flat tires.
Auto experts say being able to do your own routine checks can help you not only save time, but money in the long run.
“I’ve actually learned quite a bit about the topics I was scared to do like jumping a dead battery. I had no idea how to and honestly thought you could die if you did it wrong. So I never tried,” said Dent.
This was the second year for the clinic and it was free and open to the public.
