SPRING HILL, Fla. — Appointments for COVID-19 vaccinations at 22 Publix pharmacy locations filled up immediately Thursday morning.
Gov. Ron DeSantis on Tuesday announced that Publix pharmacies will begin receiving doses. The supermarket chain made the appointments available online and via phone lines this morning.
The state is directing vaccine doses to 22 Publix stores across Hernando, Citrus and Marion counties as the administration works to increase the number of locations where people age 65 and older can go to receive vaccines.
Appointments are needed and were scheduled between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. Appointments can be made here when avaiilable.
“When they come into the pharmacy, if they are an insured customer or patient, they should bring their insurance card,” Publix Director of Communications Maria Brous said. “Because that’s how we process their payment through their insurance company, and if they are uninsured, they would need to bring their driver's license and/or Social Security card.”
LATEST UPDATE: As of 9:25, all the appointments have been taken for the next 2 weeks. @BN9 pic.twitter.com/McUmbuyc48
