HERNANDO, Fla. — Last week's Traffic Inbox featured a dangerous and illegal turn which frustrates drivers every day in Brooksville.

What You Need To Know

Our Real Time Traffic Expert Chuck Henson shares some changes that have been made to Southbound Barclay Avenue at Cortez, just past State Road 50.

"I have been voicing my opinion to the Sheriff's Department for about a year now, because right after they had the sign put up. Nobody obeys it," Dennis Bormann explained.

According to Dennis Moloney with the Hernando County Sheriff's Office, they have put a traffic message board out there and deputies have been patrolling the area.

"We've also put a traffic message board there and the deputies were out there yesterday and they wrote several tickets because people are just... still making the left turn," Moloney said.

The tickets for making an illegal left turn are $164. And there is actually a legal left turn drivers can make just down the street.

"Yes, there's an entrance further back...further south on Barclay and people are welcome to turn in there," Moloney explained.

The bottom line is that the sheriff's office didn't put up the sign to right tickets. It's there to keep drivers safe.

Spectrum Bay News 9's Chuck Henson also inquired about the possibility of a plan to change the actual structure of the roadway.
