Jackson was best known for giving back to the community through his Jackson in Action 83 foundation. But he worked to help people all across the Bay Area. He made a lot of positive impacts in St. Petersburg.

Mayor Rick Kriseman says Jackson visited schools with him to help share the city’s anti-bullying campaign called 'Be a Buddy Not a Bully.'

“All of us that knew Vincent, we knew him as just this big hearted, really caring man who wanted to make a difference in our community,” said Mayor Rick Kriseman.

Jackson was also involved in revitalizing the historic Manhattan Casino. Mario Farias, one of the partners involved in the project, said Jackson was passionate about making sure the building was preserved. The multi-use space is set to open in March.

“It was all about the community, all about giving back, about the specialness of this building,” said Farias, partner with Callaloo Group.

Farias said Jackson always wanted to help others.

“He was kind. He was loving. He was intelligent,” said Farias.

“This is a guy who has really since the time he left and retired, his entire life was all about impacting the community in a positive way and I hope that’s what people remember about him,” said Mayor Kriseman.
