CLEARWATER, Fla. — Mary Jo and Jimmy Monbarren are the owners of Sandy Feet Mobile Kayak Rentals, offering kayak rentals and guided tours in Pinellas County that can be customized.

"So if we have somebody who wants to go to an island or just wants to go to a bird sanctuary or they want to be in an area where they want to see manatees or they want to do mangroves, we figure that out and go to that destination."

Mary Jo and Jimmy also work hand-in-hand with the city of Clearwater as volunteers helping to clean up our local waterways.

"We donate our kayaks. We bring everything out. We go out with our volunteers and try to collect all the garbage that we can to keep all of our waterways clean."

On their last cleanup on Lake Belleview in Clearwater, volunteers collected almost 500 pounds of garbage.

Jimmy said that's nothing new. "Some of the cleanups the kayaks are completely filled with trash. Yeah, just completely filled. They have no room left for them to be in the kayaks."

"There are a lot of people out there who want to help keep the waters clean but they don't have kayaks or life vests. It can be expensive to buy those things so we are happy to be able to get them in the water helping their community."
