March 14, 2021 marks one year since Gov. Ron DeSantis ordered the nursing home lockdown. The difficult decision was made to protect those most vulnerable to COVID-19, and experts say the move likely saved countless lives.
Still, state numbers show more than 10,000 residents and staff in long-term care have died from the virus.
Countless others suffered through months of isolation.
