TAMPA, Fla. — The armed man barricaded in a Tampa hotel room overnight has surrendered.
After an eight-plus hours standoff, Hillsborough County deputies took the man into custody.
Hillsborough Sheriff Chad Chronister said Victor Hernandez, 53, from North Carolina, was holding a woman and 2-year-old child against their will during an argument.
Chronister said Hernandez fired multiple gunshots inside the room and tried to start a fire.

Chronister said Hernandez was taken into custody and charged with two counts of false imprisonment and aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer.
The sheriff said a deputy was slightly injured when struck by debris from one of the gunshots. There were no other injuries.
Hernandez barricaded himself in a room at the Suburban Extended Stay Hotel at 6902 W. Hillsborough Avenue in Tampa just before midnight Monday.
The hotel, full of Wrestlemania fans, was evacuated.
Officials said they received a 911 call just after 11 p.m. Sunday about a man with a gun at the hotel. A short time later, a SWAT team was sent to the hotel.
Hillsborough Avenue was reopened in both directions just after 9 a.m.
