The labyrinth outside of the Franciscan Center in Tampa is her guide.

“It’s like a walking meditation for me,” Lovett said.“It’s complete magic.”

Every week, dozens come by to soak in mother nature and take a walk around the circle. It’s an ancient practice celebrated by different faiths all around the world.

“The best suggestion that I got for walking the labyrinth is to go in heavy with the hope to come out light,” says Theresa Collington, General Manager of the Franciscan Center.

Lovett says this year has been particularly stressful because of the pandemic, social unrest and her own personal struggles. It’s why she’s been walking the labyrinth more often to find her own center of inner-peace.

On Saturday, Lovett is excited to take another trip around the circle to celebrate World Labyrinth Day. At 1 p.m., thousands from all around the world will walk as one for world peace.

“I think it’s amazing,” Lovett said. “I think it’s just outstanding.”

The Franciscan Center is inviting the community to visit Saturday afternoon and participate in the labyrinth walk.

“The truth is, it’s really just an excuse to get together in the name of peace,” Collington said.

Those who come are asked to donate boxes of cereal to help feed the hungry.
