PINELLAS COUNTY, Fla. — This week's everyday heroes Pat and Rich Jennings are serving up hope by cooking up delicious meals for those in need.

Food is their recipe for giving back.

Mondays are very busy days for the Jennings.

What You Need To Know

That’s the day the Jennings and volunteers at St. Jerome Catholic Church in Largo prepare hundreds of meals to be delivered to Pinellas Hope, an organization that provides shelter to those in need.

“We’re preparing probably 140 meals and with that we have a vegetable side, desert and deviled eggs which seem to be the most popular,” said Rich Jennings.

Baked Ziti was on the latest menu.

It’s one of nine main courses, with a different one each week that pat and rich and the other volunteers prepare.

Plenty of sandwiches are put together with love here as well.

“We make 200 sandwiches every week,” said Pat Jennings. “And they put them away for lunches or if somebody comes in late for dinner they can have a sandwich.”

Pat and Rich started volunteering here more than 15 years ago and for the past few years have been supervisor-leaders.

The Jennings are people of deep faith and a true sense of volunteerism. And they recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary.
