BROOKSVILLE, Fla. — The Hernando School Board on Tuesday voted 3-2 to impose mask mandate for students, teachers and staff.
However, unlike other districts that are currently facing investigations and financial threats from the state, Hernando will allow parents to opt their children out of the COVID-19 precaution.
Teachers, staff, visiting parents and school vendors will all be required to wear face coverings.
Parents on both sides of the contentious issue voiced their opinions Tuesday before the vote, but most opposed a mandate.
The board agreed to review the new rules on Oct. 12.
