PINELLAS COUNTY, Fla. — The Gibbs High School Woman's Choir has hit a high note with an invitation to perform at a prestigious choral directors' conference.
Gibbs High is one of two schools chosen from Florida to attend the conference.
They'll perform alongside other performers, most of whom are at the collegiate and professional level.
"We're so excited, this is a huge opportunity for us," said PCCA Woman's Chorale Director, Matthew Clear said of the American Choral Directors' Association's Southern Conference.
"Our choir auditioned and did an anonymous audition," said Clear.

More than 70 choirs auditioned and 19 were chosen.
During a difficult year amid the pandemic these singers stayed in sync with practices over zoom.
Senior Soprano Gianna Pinizotto spent four years with the group.
"I feel like PCCA in general has a lot of good resources in general and having those resources has helped me," said Pinizotto.
She plans to study music therapy in college.
Soprano Tobias Deggans is transgender and is hoping to sing at the collegiate level and study music education.
"For me it's been a wonderful journey, everyone is accepting," said Deggans.
Through choir both his voice and spirit have been amplified.
"Everyone is here to have fun and make great music," added Clear.
The choir will be the first from Pinellas County to participate in the conference in February 2022 in North Carolina.
Students are currently raising funds to sponsor the trip.
