But since the pandemic, Quinn’s mind has been racing as she struggles to keep her studios open.
“I lie awake most nights, stressing,” said Quinn, owner of Kinetic Soul studios.
Many of the clients on her fitness milestone board are now gone.
“We’ve had a lot of cancellations during the pandemic,” Quinn said. “Trying to get people to come back. Also getting new clients in has been really hard during the pandemic. I would say we lost 60% of our members due to COVID.”
Her father came out of retirement to help her through these tough times. He helps to wash, clean and sanitize everything while Quinn teaches classes.
“He even babysits the kids where people bring the kids, so it’s really nice and it’s nice getting to work with my dad too,” Quinn said.
But the struggle is real. Recently, Quinn was denied a small business loan. She said she was told that fitness studios are too much of a COVID risk. It’s why Quinn recently went to Facebook, asking not for donations, but for her old customers to return. And for others, Quinn just wants them to come out and give Kinetic Soul studios a try.
“We’re really not going to be here anymore if people don’t come in and support,” Quinn said.
Quinn said some clients have offered loans. She said she can make it a few more months on her own, but if nothing changes she fears she may have to close for good.
