DOVER, Fla. — After a disappointing cancellation of the Hillsborough County Fair in 2020 due to COVID, this year's event is opening with much excitement.

"There is so much excitement, not just here, but amongst the entire community. We just can't wait to open this evening," said spokesperson Brenda Difede. "There's so much to do for families or individuals. I don't even know if you could cover everything in one day. That's why we are open for 11."

The fair opens tonight at the Hillsborough County Fairgrounds in Dover at 5 p.m. and runs through October 3rd.

Today and next Thursday, the fair celebrates Dollar Days, with admission for just one dollar.

General admission tickets for other days are $10.

The fair features the usual carnival rides, but if you can't stomach those it also includes several events like a circus, a rodeo, a big FAA livestock competition, and a celebration of first responders.
