LUTZ, Fla. — The Buccaneers game against the Patriots brought Tom Brady back to his old turf for the first time since he signed on with Tampa Bay.

It goes without saying that New England's loss in the quarterback has been Tampa's gain.

Just over a year and a Superbowl championship later, fans say the game has caused them to revisit some unresolved emotions.

Before moving to Tampa 10 years ago, Tim Flannigan says he was a Patriots fan rooting for Tom Brady in New England.

“We’re still have our seats up there. I sold our tickets for tonight's game and we’re now Bucs fans primarily," said the Patriots and Bucs season ticket holder.

He's now proud to support the same quarterback, but a different team.

“How the Patriots treated Brady when he left, not well."

Flannigan says after winning six Superbowls with New England, Brady deserved better, which he believes the quarterback got by signing with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

“Even my wife says he’s been happier and more himself in Tampa because you don’t have to run the Belicheck playbook," he said.

Beyond the game and opposing teams, there is one man lifelong fans like Oscar Pickens continue to admire.

“Money never drove him, he wasn’t about the money, he was about winning," said Pickens, who has been watching Brady since his days in Michigan.

“Paycuts so that he could get players in there, his passion for the game at 44, that’s unheard of," he added.

He says his respect continues to grow for what Brady has done on and off the field.
