SEMINOLE, Fla. — It’s one thing to spend a day helping to feed those in need; it’s another thing to dedicate your entire life to doing it.

What You Need To Know

Deacon James Cobb works with H.E.L.P. Ministries in Seminole. Thanks to his efforts and the efforts of volunteers like him, more than a thousand people every month can get the food they need to get by. They work with H.E.L.P. to lend a helping hand to the people who need it most.

“We’re feeding the community, helping when we can help,” Cobb said. “People come out and we provide food, different clothing, and advice and things to them.”

Every volunteer works tirelessly to serve the community, but not everyone makes this their life’s work. Cobb has been a part of this mission since the first day, nearly 20 years ago, and shows no sign of stopping.

As for why Cobb's devoted his life to helping others, he says it's just a matter of returning the favor.

“Because someone helped me once when I was down struggling," said Cobb. "Someone came to my rescue so the least I can do is help back.”

H.E.L.P. Ministries now seeks financial support from other heroes in the community to expand operations. Once these volunteers can get a larger building, they can serve even more people in need.
